The American Musicological Society, New England Chapter<\/a>, announces its meeting of Spring 2026, to take place on April 25<\/strong> hosted by Northeastern University, Boston, MA. The Program Committee invites proposals of up to 300 words for 20-minute papers. Themes of music technology, music journalism, or public scholarship are especially encouraged, though not required. All abstracts are subject to anonymous review, and submissions from faculty, independent scholars, and students are encouraged and welcome. We are delighted to announce that writer, scholar and critic, Jeremy Eichler<\/a>, Tufts University, will be joining us to discuss his public humanities work as a long-time writer in the Boston Globe, as well as the author of the award-winning book, Time\u2019s Echo: Music, Memory, and the Second World War<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Abstracts should be submitted by March 16<\/strong> to the Program Committee through this Google form<\/a>.<\/strong> Submitters will be informed of the committee\u2019s decision by the beginning of April, with the hope of announcing the conference program by April 10<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Please refer to the AMS guidelines for abstracts: \u201cProposals should represent the presentation as fully as possible. A successful proposal typically articulates the main aspects of the argument or research findings clearly, positions the author\u2019s contribution with respect to previous scholarship, and suggests the paper\u2019s significance for the musicological community, in language that is accessible to scholars with a variety of specializations.\u201d Applicants are requested to submit only one proposal per meeting, and that the proposal not be currently under review for presentation at other conferences. In the case of a roundtable or workshop, the same guidelines apply, and we ask that the single proposal be for the session as a whole, including information for all participants, rather than individual proposals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Those who are not currently dues-paying members of the New England Chapter will be asked to kindly remit the modest Chapter dues ($10) at the AMS national website Chapter Signup page<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
